I had an unusually crazy day today, and with Josh out of town, I'd missed my early morning chance to exercise. My very kind father came over for dinner and to help put the kids to bed, and then he very very kindly let me go for a walk by myself after Dash went down to sleep. When I got home and went in to give Dash a kiss, he looked up at me from his crib and asked in his sleepy, sweet little voice, "How was your walk, Mommy?" Made up for every last bit of today's mostly-Dash-induced-chaos in that one dear question.

How was your walk?
Dash has taken to asking us questions starting with "How was your...?" In his little boy voice, he will ask me "How was your nap, Mommy" (meaning my night) or "How was your work, Mommy?" when I come down from my office. I don't know where he picked it up but it's insanely adorable. And even if he doesn't really know what he's asking, it always makes me feel like in his way, he wants to know that I am happy.
Happy July 4th
Ella loved the 4th of July fireworks we let her stay up to watch last week. She left this awesome picture on my desk yesterday reminding me of the fun of the holiday.

Quiet
You know what felt really really quiet tonight? Dinner at home with just the 4 of us after a week spent at the beach with 25 other people. I actually kind of missed the chaos.
