We are back from a fantastic week at the beach with old friends, yummy food, and crazy weather. It's one of my favorite weeks all year and this year was the best ever (I say that every year). The week before we left, Dash was using the potty many times a day. Ella is a great cheerleader, mostly because she got a chocolate chip right along with Dash every time he used the potty. So we just decided to give it a go with him wearing only underwear on our beach trip. He did amazingly well. There were very few accidents and he has gotten really great at telling us when he needs to go.
On the drive home, we put a diaper on him, thinking that a 3.5 hour car ride wasn't very potty-friendly to a newly trained kid. But about an hour from home, he told us that he needed go to potty. We explained that he had a diaper on so he could just go, but he refused. He held it until we got home so he could use the potty. I definitely didn't plan for our annual beach vacation to also be our potty training week, but hooray for all of us that it worked out that way!! What a big boy!
